PA POWER Library:

The POWER Library is offered as a service of Pennsylvania's public libraries, school libraries and the State Library. The POWER library allows you to access thousands of full text periodical articles, newspapers, a major encyclopedia, plus photographs, pictures, charts, maps, reference materials for young people and more. You will find materials of interest in most subject areas for all age groups from young children to adults.

Story Time:

Miss Becky brings books to life during her story time.  Story time is for 3 to 5 year olds and is held every Tuesdays and Fridays from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM.  The story time program runs from September to May.  Pre-registration is NOT required.

Summer Reading:

The Summer Reading program is a collaborative statewide summer reading program.  This program runs fro 5 weeks during the summer months.  Pre-registration IS required for this program.


You can download best-selling and classic eBooks and audiobooks from the library's website, anytime, anywhere. You can browse the collection, check out with your library card, and download to PC, Mac®, and many mobile devices. To get started, you will need to install free software. For audiobooks: OverDrive® Media Console™. To read eBooks, you’ll need Adobe® Digital Editions. Titles can be enjoyed immediately or transferred to a variety of devices, including iPod®, Sony® Reader™, Amazon Kindle, smartphones, iPads, and many others. Some audio titles can also be burned to CD to listen on-the-go. Titles will automatically expire at the end of the lending period. There are no late fees! With hundreds of popular fiction and non-fiction titles to choose from, the new collection is guaranteed to have something for everyone. You can download best-selling novels, well-known classics, self-improvement guides, and much more. This new service, powered by OverDrive, is free with your library card. DVD Rentals:

The library has over 1,000 DVDs in our collection.  Rental fees are $1.50 for 3 days.  Late fees are $.50 per day per DVD.

Audio Books:

Fee to rent an Audio Book is $1.00 for 2 weeks.


The library subscribes to 21 magazines which may be checked for 4 weeks.  We keep back issues up to 2 years.  We subscribe to 5 newspapers.

Inter-Library Loan:

If we don't have the book you're looking for in our library ask about our Inter-library loan service.  Fill out a request form for the book and we will borrow the book from another library and call you when we receive the material.  Delivery time is a minimum of two weeks.

Internet Access:

Internet access if a a free-of-charge service.  The library has 6 computer stations.  We also offer free WiFi connection to our patrons.

Fax/Copy Service:

Fax service is available at the Library.  To send or receive a fax there is a $1.00 fee per page. Copies may be made on the copier or computer printer for $.25 a page plus tax for black & white and $.50 for color prints.

Local History/Genealogy Questions:

The Bedford County Library does not have a local history department.  There is, however, an organization in the county that can help you..
